History of South Pasadena Home Properties
South Pasadena property originally was a part of the much larger city of Pasadena until it annexed itself in 1888 and refused to shut down its saloons and taverns. Many Pasadena residents drove south to imbibe in a glass of ale at some of the city's earliest establishments. The original South Pasadena Fair Oaks Pharmacystill exists today on the corner of Mission and Fair Oaks. Early in South Pasadena's history, the city was home to the Cawston Ostrich Farm that closed its doors in 1935. The farm was the first of its kind when Edwin Cawston pioneered a grueling trip for 50 ostriches from South Africa to South Pasadena via Galveston, TX. Of those 50, only 18 survived the journey, however the Cawston Farm became a premier tourist destination to offer ostrich rides around the nine acre South Pasadena property.

South Pasadena's tree lined streets include species of redwood, ash, sequoia, and sycamore. Like Sierra Madre, the city of South Pasadena maintains a mom-and-pop economic environment of primarily small businesses. South Pasadena schools have consistently ranked in the top 5%, however San Marino schools have become the absolute best in the state.
